I have two painteds each around a year old.
I\'me sure they have already been through
one hibernation, but this year we\'re keeping them inside since our pond is not right for them and because I was treating one for an injury. Will it ever be possible to hibernate them again? I will build a huge pond for them next year maybe 6 or 7 hundred gallons. If it is deep enough will they be relativly safe?
I\'ve got a few emails saying it will be alright and some saying how stupid I am.
Please help, I\'m confused.

I don\'t think its stupid. You just need to make sure you know everything to do, before you do anything. Make sure you know the pros and cons. They will be able to hibernate, but you also need to find out as much as possible about that as well. Know what you getting into, and if you even want to risk hibernation at all. I don\'t know much about outdoor ponds, but I don\'t see how it could be bad, since it is their natural environment. Go to the bookstore, search the internet. Try google, and type \"red eared slider\"+hibernation.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do:)
