I have read that rough rocks should not be used in a turtle\'s tank because it could cause scrapes, but I often see pictures of tanks with a basking platform made of cinderblocks or bricks. Is this bad for the turtle?

I have also read the same thing. I think its mostly so their shell doesn\'t get scraped, which can lead to infection. I think as long as they don\'t scratch their shell they should be ok, but I still wouldn\'t use rough surfaces in my tank. I think its safer all around to use turtle friendly products.
