I found a small (4 inches long) snapping turtle in the road today. He is missing one front limb but it is not bleeding- maybe a defect at birth? He has a small injury to his neck- I used betadine rinse and it is not bleeding. Should I keep him or just let him go? I live on a lake. I have him in a small tank with just enough water to cover half of him- I didn\'t want him struggling to get air with that neck injury. I bought some store brand turtle sticks- should I cook him some chicken? How long can he go without eating? Any suggestions would be helpful! thanks!

since it is a wild turtle I would just let it go and let nature take it\'s course on this one. If you\'d like to have one as a pet you can buy them online at many places. www.turtlesales.com that is a rather good one. I bought my eastern paint from them. Nice people also

Hi,
I would suggest that you take that turtle to a conservatory or leave him with a vet or someone who could take care of its injuries.
