do red eared sliders shed thier skin?

do red eared sliders shed thier skin? i have two that are about 9- 12 months old....they seem to be shedding any ideas....thanks

yeah they do shed, give them a little more time with the heating lamp

Okay, if we are talking shells. Yes, at certain times they shed on the scales. But if you are talking skin, example, feet, legs, neck, face, then no they are not. There maybe a bacteria infection. They will have to see a vet for that. Be sure to watch the shell closely, even though some shedding is normal, if it begins to crack and bleed or become soft, take him to see a doc and quick. Hope this helps.

I have found that they shead in spurts and usually takes several days to complete.

Thanks. That maybe something I need to know in the future. I have never experienced this, but I may. It may help me know what is going on with mine if it ever occurs.
