Hi!
I have been keeping a turtle for about 2 years. I bought a new one today. they are about 3 and 5 inches. The one I have always had looks very faded in colour beside the new one. Im very worried because I think the one with very faded colour cant be that healthy. turtles are meant to be brightly coloured are they not> these two are definitely the same species. yellow-bellied sliders. HELPPPPP. the faded one\'s skin peels a lot too, and his shell....

welcome to the board:)

ur turtle seems very normal..peeling skin is a sign of growing and fading color is a sign of growing too..older turtles\' shell color darkens by time until it reaches brown, olive green, or sometimes black at the end (after 20-25 yrs)

so don\'t worry there\'s nothing to worry about:)

btw, how did ur older turtle act when u introduced the new one to it? did they get along? just curious cz i\'m planning to get a new one too:)
