I have 1 red eared slider, and he never goes onto the land to bask. His shell seems to be a tiny bit rubbery, and im worried about shell rot. He can get onto the land easily I\'ve seen him do it with no trouble at all. But he sleeps in the water and never comes out, only rarely does he come out. Is this normal? thanks for your help

It could be that the water is warmer or as warm as the basking area, if that is the case, he may choose not to bother with it, try raising the basking temp. by lowering the light to where it will give more heat or maybe putting in a higher wattage bulb (ex: 65 to 75)
