im such a bad mommie..i did this all rwong. see, i read that u werent suppose to handle your turtles cuz it stresses them out..but i didnt realize it only applied when they were babies. now, they are MEAN and aggressive..they try to bite me at any chance they get and they hiss. when i was carrying one to the bathroom today (i was putting her in the tub while i cleaned the tank) she was so mad that she bit a towel on the way! how can i socialize them?

I read on another board that one of the posters had several turtles but he had one that he would play hide and seek with, he would go hide and the turtle would go and find him, I liked his story but it had a sad ending, his turtle died a while ago, that made me sad.:(

Well, ofcourse they get stressed out, I mean, wouldn\'t you, but after they realize you are not gonna hurt them, they will relax, I took mine out one day, I held shelly while my niece held dragon, I scratched shelly\'s shell lightly and she liked it, when I tried with dragon all he wanted to do was escape (probably still has nephew issues:D), my nephew doesn\'t touch dragon anymore so I hope dragon gets better about his fear of being held.:D

it\'s easier when they\'re younger..at least if they bite it won\'t hurt that much (don\'t worry they not all of them would bite)

Most of the times when they do bite, it is just a warning, kinda like saying \"feel that?, I can do better!, so leave me alone\" :D:D

My twister tried to bite me once, He didn\'t want to be held he just wanted me to feed him. Then I started to hold him more often because it hurt my feelings that he didn\'t want me to hold him. I wanted to make him love me. Now he is comfortable with me. i do the jet plane thing now too.
