I noticed whiile my red ear slider was basking that it looked like his shell was flaking off. His shell is still hard but thin layers are peeling of his shell??? He eats fine reptomin sticks and basks under a full spectrum bulb. What should I do Any Ideas.
Thanks
Matt

is it like shedding? if ur turtle is acting normal and it\'s not excessive then this is a sign of growing

I just posted something similar to your problem. My RES is doing the same thing. He is almost five years old and has always been healthy. Is it possible that they molt as they grow?

dixieee just answered my post on a similar problem and sent me to this web site..

http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medshell.htm

It has everything on it and I found that my turtle\'s shedding shell is normal.
