How can I tell how old my turtle is? If it\'s by length, how much bigger is a full grown turtle than a baby one? I have a red ear slider by the way.

I have two RES that I got from a person that no longer cared for them and they are 8 inches long and 8 years old. Three that i have were dropped off and one is as big as the 8 year olds\' but the other 2 are 1 and a half and 2 inches long. I don\'t know how old they are .The strange part is I have had them for a year and they haven\'t grown???????

Eh ok... I\'m just afraid I\'m either feeding him too much or not enough.

Hi!

A cousin of mine once found an Eastern Painted Turtle in the Hudson River & gave it to me. When it tried to eat my baby RES turts I took it to the conservatory in the park around my way.

I was told that the turtle was over 50 years old b/c of it\'s weight, length & the color of it\'s shell.

If a herpetologist can\'t say exactly an age, then I don\'t think we novice turt owners could ever pinpoint ages :(
