Guess what everyone? I do believe I have solved all. Our Yellow Belly is a mud/musk turtle. She belongs in water. So out came the sand and in went the water once again. However a hatchling mud/musk turtle needs a 20 gallon long tank, so my 5 1/2 gallon tank won\'t do. So off to the pet store for a 20 gallon long tomorrow. I can not begin to tell you how great it is to know what she is. Now maybe I can begin to really enjoy this little cutie pie.

I would like to thank all those who helped me in my search, Kim, Shelly Turtle, and Rodeo44 It means a lot to me that you all took the time to help us. You guys are the best.

If anyone knows about mud/musk turtles, I am still learning, I guess this is where it all starts. So any (more) help would be great! Gosh how needy am I? LOL

Thank you all!

wow she looked liek a painted an i can help you anytime. i have a bunch of snappers that they say grow out of a 10gallon tank in no time but mine really never did. i still use it for my baby leonard and he lives greatly. Fish filter and other stuff. But take my word get a filter and get something with suctioncups for htem to sit on. My snappers who supposedly dont bask love to bask
