What am I supose to do when my turtles eat rocks? Well axtually the gravel in the tank? Is that healthy for them? or could that kill them eventually? Will i need surgery? Plus we were told that it was good to put small gravel so that they were able to dig.

the first thing you should do is remove the gravel! eating it could be fatal! it could cause all kinds of blockages.its bad to put small gravel in because it can be eaten. find the largest set of river rocks you can. they are smooth and they look nice.

Smooth river rocks larger than your turtle\'s head would be much safer and he\'d still be able to dig. Get some cuttlebone (in the bird section), take off the hard backing, break it into pieces and leave some floating in the tank. (A turtle eating rocks is considered by some to mean that he\'s looking for calcium.)

my res ate the gravel too
when i took the gravel out he was still passing rocks for 10 days
but i think its just safer to keep the gravel out
plus it stays cleaner & w/ the gravel i was getting them lil white worms the pet store guy told me it was from the gravel so...just take it out
