I just adopted a 6 year old RES from someone who kept it in terrible conditions. This my first aquatic turtle (I also have a sulc)so it is a little new to me. Anyway, it has this whit and fuzzy stuff on its hind feet and legs. It kind of reminds me of the \"ick\" that fish get. What should I do? Also, it claws are really long because it had nothing in its former tank to wear them down. Can I just clip them like I do my own?

Males have long nails. I wouldn\'t cut them. It will be fine.

The white fuzzy stuff could be fungal or bacterial growth. I would keep the tank water clean at all times if I were you. I would also wash the turtle with mild soap and water regularly. Also try to correct the husbandry. IMPT: Provide your turtle with a dry area to bask in as well as a few hours of sunlight a day. If it does not improve, best to bring it a vet. Good luck.
