A story about a wild turtle...

My mom and I were riding bikes tonight and we were in a parking lot and saw what looked like a rock in the middle of the parking lot. (this parking lot was empty) So, we went over and found that this rock-looking thing was a wild turtle! :O We were very surprised because we don\'t see a lot of turtles in our area. So we looked at him, and it looked like it had been up on that hot blacktop all day and was exhausted, so we decided to pick him up, and put him in a creek nearby. We put him on a little area that was fairly dry, and left him. We came back about 20 minutes later, and he was gone! :)

Please help us figure out what type of turtle he was! His head (which we didn\'t see too much) looked like a RES\'s without the red stripes. It was yellow and black striped instead. His shell was dirty, so I did not see what the colors or anything were. It looked as if he was at least 20 years old, and about 8-10 inches long. (His shell was about 8-10 in. long) Thanks!

either the red sides faded because of age so it would be a red eared slider, or else it could be a normal slider turtle which have yellow stripes.
