Hey i recently got a baby red eared slider, and i have been filling his tank with spring water, but i was wondering if just regular tapwater is ok? thanks!

Regular tapwater should be fine. Tapwater, however, is often treated with chlorine and/or chloramines, which can be irritating to your turtle. Letting the water stand in open containers for 24 hours would let the chlorine, but not the chloramines, evaporate. If your tapwater is treated, to be on the safe side, you could add a dechlorinator such as Reptisafe or Amquel (there are others)when you change the water or add water to your tank to eliminate both of them.

I have read on some sites that it is actually better to use chlorinated tap water when filling your tank to help to kill bacteria that cause shell rot. I read it on the site I bought my turts from which is a major turtle farm in FL.

I agree with snoopy. I have used tapwater for my turtle since i first got him and he is going on a year in may. He has never had any problems.
Good luck:p
