Why are my western painted turts biting each other! I need to know what to do before they cause each other serious damage. They bite at their faces, legs, shells any part of each other.

I dont know anything about those types of turtles, but RES will do that if their habitat is too small. It is a territorial issue. I assume it may be the same problem. The rule of thumb for size of aquarium is 10 gal per inch of shell on EACH turtle. So if each were 5 inches it would mean a 100 gal. tank. You may also have to seperate them if that doesnt work. Good luck!

If you can\'t afford a tank, large Rubbermaid storage containers, preformed ponds, stock tanks are good alternatives.

Those tanks are cool for fish, but personally I wouldnt use one for turtles. There isnt enough swimming room except going up and down. If they are small turtles it might work for a bit, but you will need something bigger for them later.
