I have one of those ESU coil UVA/UVB lamps. I\'m either near it or right next to it for 2-3 hours everyday while I play with my baby turtles. Does anyone know if these UV rays would be harmful to me.. cause skin cancer? I guess this would also apply to most people here.

These are suppose to mimic the outdoor lighting. You should be ok, it has to be safe for the animal so I dont believe it would be a problem for the limited time you are around it.

The coil lamp (ESU) gives off 3% UVB --less than Reptisun. For a turtle to get UVB rays from it, the turtle should not be further than 12 inches away from it (6-8 inches is best). If you\'re more than a foot away from it for only 2-3 hours a day, I wouldn\'t worry.
