Hello all
My name is Meghan and I have 2 sliders. Both of them have algae spots and white marks on their shell. Do you think it\'s an infection? I live in NJ and turtles are illegal here, so I don\'t know if I can take them to a vet. Are there any safe home remedies I might be able to try?

algae is normal on their shells. If it bothers you, you can clean it with a soft cloth or soft bristle toothbrush very gently. The white I am not sure of. Is the shell soft? Does it look like it is on the edges of the round areas on the shell (scutes)? If so it is probably ready to shed.
