I would recommend some kind of pump to remove the water as well since you will have a lot to change out. Also a thermometer that sticks to the side of the aquarium would be good to check the temp regularly.

More powerful filters than Fluvals would be better for a 150 gallon tank.

Mariza, eventually we will be upgrading our tank. What do you recommend for a tank of atleast 100 gal? I am not content with my current filter. I got a mini penguin for my 10 gal, but I am still changing the water out every week.

A filter should be rated for 3x the size of your tank (Ex., a 100 gallon tank should have a filter that`s rated for 300gph).
It would be good to do a little reading on filtration: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articl ... ration.htm

If money is not a problem, with the size tank you`re describing, I would buy an Eheim. I`ve never heard anyone say a negative thing about them (except the price--they are more expensive than other filters).

This is a lot of information, but I don\'t like to make peoples\' decisions for them. I prefer to give them the information and let them make an informed decision because it is their money.

Some things in life are worth the price, from everything I`ve read, an Eheim is one of them. It is the filter I will be getting when I upgrade. I am willing to pay the extra money to have something that will last and be able to use for a long time to come. I almost always recommend them, but know that for some people price is an issue.

I am saving for Eheim now so that I can put the best on my tank. I know that it is expensive but in all of the research that i have done it will be money well spent and will last forever.
