turtles are biting each other

i have 2 turtles and have had both turtles since they were babies and the past day one turtle seems to be biting the other, why is this? should i be concerned?

They are RES? How big are they and how big is your tank? RES are territorial, especially in smaller spaces. A guide is 10 gallons of tank per inch of shell, and more is better.

There is no guarantee two turtles will get along, even if they did so when younger. If the biting occurs when feeding, feed them separately. If it is continuous or gets worse, you may have to separate them permanently.

my friend sue (turtlesu13) had this problem her res bit her painter and had it by it\'s tail! I think their separated now.
