Is there an artificial way of hibernating a turtle? I don’t want to let her roam free and get lost. I just basically want a way of controlling it to make sure she’s ok. Also, if hibernation is not really necessary, what can I do to keep her from being so sluggish?

Thanks for your help!

Hibernation is necessary for some species for breeding purposes, but for RES (is that what your turtle is?) hibernation is not even necessary for that. I would not hibernate a turtle if I didn`t know what I was doing. Keep your turtle warm and she won`t want to hibernate. Get a water heater to keep the temp. steady at 78-80 degrees F., basking area should be 85-90 F.
