I found a baby snapping turltle middle/end of fall last year. The pond it came from is full of cans and oil (in the middle of a city park) so I took it in for the winter. I was thinking about where I could possibly to set it free this year. I don\'t want to keep a snapper. They are a handful and very aggressive. He has grown very fast. From a shell approx 1.5\" to 6+\" over the winter. This is my first pet turtle so I am very afraid for Turdy when I set him/her free. I am wondering where. Would it be healthy to set Turdy free in the Reseviour a few miles from my house? I want the best possible chances for Turdy the Turtle to reach 80+ years old!
Also, when would be a good time to set Turdy free? I live in Ma and it\'s still quite cold here. Please give me your suggestions.

Where are you from? I,m from NJ and have many ponds, lakes ,and swampy areas around me;and believe me they are full of snappers. You can pretty much let him go in any of those locations especially where there is alot of mud<<since they love to bury themselves!>>>.But try not to let it go in an area where there is a road because they do travel and I have seen alot of casualtiesalong the side of the street..Hope this can help you out! GOOD LUCK!!

I honestly would wait until it starts to get a little warmer this way he will be awake and alert and pretty much find his own place to live when you set him free.
