Anyone know how well turtles can see, smell, etc?

Turtles can vividly see apart colors, but have really bad aim. They have a greta sence of smell, which is why the turtles are picky about their food. They only eat foods that they think smell good.

They can\'t hear very well, they can only hear vibrations. All turtles have ears, but they have no opening.

My turts love the color red. I can hold anything red to the side of the tank and they\'ll just play with it as long as it\'s there. Also, when underwater, why do they open their mouths very slighty every once and a while? Kinda like a breathing motion. Thanks for the replies
