How old is your turtle? and what kind?
It is ok if you take it out to get some unfiltered sunlight. Make sure the sunlight is not blocked by glass or plastic. One hour a day should be sufficient. If this isn\'t possible then a UVB light is a must. What you can try doing is feed it Vitimin D3 supplement which some people claim can \"replace\" sunlight. These supplements come in powder form in which you sprinkle on their food. This is an alternate way if you do not have the money for a uvb light.
But it is safer and more effective to provide a UVB so the turtle can \"make\" its own Vitimin D3
