I keep mine no more then 90, i would be afraid the basking area would get too hot and burn the little turtles feet. Hope this helps!

The temp on the baskin spot shouldn\'t be much more than the temp that your turtle is native too. This way, the temp is not higher than where is it normally from!

Well, I just got done with my new setup and everything is working very well. However, the basking area is closer to the heat lamp then I usually have it. The basking area is secured so I can\'t move it. Right now it is a 60w bulb. Any suggestions on about what wat I need? It\'s about 6 inches from the top of the basking area. the turts are still babies. Thanks for your responses

By the way, the temp was waaaaay over 90. Don\'t worry, I didn\'t let any of the turtles get up there. The rocks on the area are staying cool, it\'s jsut the direct heat I\'m worried about

If your worried about direct heat exposure, just simply raise your lamp up a bit.
