I bought a turtle from this petstore before I new anything about turtles. I noticed the turtle had fungus or algae stuck all over his shell. I took him to a reptile specialist, and they said his shell was unhealthy. I took the turtle back to the store, and bought a painted turtle from a different store after doing research on the species. Now that I have my painted, I know all of the necessities needed to keep this type of turtle healthy. I have been back to that petstore twice in the past month, and the turtle that I bought is still there. He is in a tank, with a little bit of unfiltered water, a tiny rock to clim on to, NO LIGHTING OR HEATING! The first time I went back and saw him, he was still active and alert, but this last time he looked so miserable and I think he is dying. I think he is dying because he isn't in the right environment. They have two other turtles that are being housed in the same type of environment, and if they don't sell them soon, I believe they will die. I am not trying to advertise so someone will buy the turtles... actually I personally am never going back into that store.. but I am wondering if anyone knows if I should report this and to who... I just can't stand to watch him die. The store is in Corona, California.
Thanks in advance for any input,

you should tell the reptile specialist to talk to the people in the store, and maybe even call your local SPCA,if you have one.Butif you are really worried about them you can always talk to the people yourself.

if you have a big enough tank, res and painted turtles are compatable, but no pressure just a suggestion.

That is horrible. If I were you I would go in there and get all those sick turtles and do the best you can for them to get them healthy. Also, go to www.turtlehomes.org

They rescue abused turtles and find them homes.

The turtles will die, so get them until you can find them a suitable home.

If you do that, then they will only go out and buy MORE turtles to sell to other people. If people would stop buying animals from these horrible places, then maybe they would stop trying to sell them. It is a vicious never ending circle, just like puppy mills..... If you don\'t know what a puppy mill is, check out this website:

You are right, however, it is cruel to let those turtles die. Turtle homes will go in and rescue them, so I am told.

Just contact them and see if they will do something, if not, give me the name of the shop and I will do it.
