My male res is constantly attacking my smaller female. In addition to biting at her neck, he has now starting biting the edge of the underside of her shell and is causing real damage. I have separated them, but my 55 gallon tank is not big enough for both in the long term. He is exhibiting classic signs of mating behaviour such as claw shaking, but she is totally uninterested. Is there anything I can do other than get rid of him? Please pass on your suggestions!

What exactly is the size difference in the two turtles? It may have nothing to do with the sexes of the turtles. If the male is much bigger he will be more agressive. You might wanna wait till they are more the same size?
