Why do turtles Prolapse? I had NO idea what that even was until I read it on this website. I have had a box turtle for about one month and have seen it prolapse at least 4 or 5 times now. I work all day so of course I don\'t know how often she does it when I\'m gone. I\'ve read online here that if it happens a lot that I should get the help of a vet. But I hoped someone could let me know why turtles do this and if it\'s painful. She usually does it in the water and when I come close enough she stops and it goes back in. What should I do? Can anyone please offer advice? Is there anyway to stop it? Also, how often should we feed the turtle? And how much (live and vegetation)? I\'d appreciate your help. Thanks!

Jenny, I wish I could help you out. However, I am not familiar with land turtles. I do know that if your turtle prolapses alot you should ask your vet. It might cause your pet to go into distress. I will check around and see if I can get more information for you.

First... are you sure it is a female? If it is a male, it could be his winky!
