Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and have a juvenile stinkpot musk turtle in a 20 gallon tank. The water is full almost all the way up, and I just got a new Penn Plax canister filter. Unfortunately, it is much too loud (my tank is right next to my bed) and it is too powerful for my tank. My turtle has a hard time swimming because of the flow. Does anyone have any recommendations for low flow, quiet filters that will work efficiently in a turtle tank?

One from what I've read you want a filter twice as powerful then the size of the tank. So for a 20 gallon tank you would want a 40 gallon filter. Second, a waterfall type filter gives it a more natural look, then just place some rocks in front of where the water fall to reduce the amount of flow the water inputs while at the same time not cover where the water goes it so the filter continues to do it's job.
