I had a red earred slider outside in my yard in a small tank but he managed to get out and I looked all over for him for several days. that was about 6 or 7 weeks ago . While I was raking leaves today I found him but I am not sure if he is hibernating or dead. What should I do?
Thanks

Hi, i\'d get a small container with luke warm water in it and watch him. Make sure he doesn\'t drown and don\'t put TOO much water in, just enough so that it will warm him up, maybe put a lamp over him to to help with the warming up. This should wake him up if he\'s in hibernation.

Since you\'re raking leaves, I assume it\'s chilly there at leat 50-60F at night. I think it has started hibernation. I would try to warm him up with 75F of water... that is sufficient. Luke warm water may be too warm. And when he is awake, I\'d bring the tank inside and make sure he doesn\'t escape again. :)

Cheers,
JJ :)
