Post any questions you have about a turtle outdoor setup here. Or if you have a link to your outdoor setup picture we would love to see it.

Hi. My 6 huge red eared sliders(all 3 yrs old) have been living in their outdoor pond for about 7 months now. They lived indoors until they got too big! It is getting around 40-50 here at night. Will they hibernate even if there is no mud on the bottom? Do they wake up to eat and then go back to hibernating? Right now I have them covered at night with a comforter over their cage so the wind doesn\'t give them a respiratory infection. Should I be worrying about the temp or can they take it? Thanks for all the helpful info!

Where do you live and what are they being housed in (when outside)?

At 50F they would be starting to head towards hibernation and they would still come up for air and feed, but less though. I\'d bring them inside. But if you don\'t have the space, maybe you have to look into hibernation.

Cheers,
JJ
