I have, in my San Diego yard, a large ginger-jar pond (approx 15-20 gals); complete with water plants, including water hyacith, a water \"fountain\" and small floating logs suitable for basking. Would this be a suitible environment for keeping a water turtle? And, if so, what would be the best kind ... the smaller the better. Your input is greatly appreciated.

As long as it couldn\'t escape or be inviting to other bigger and curios critters. I don\'t know to much about pond systems and how they work (for turtles sake) But have been looking into it quite a bit for my own sliders. I live in the central valley, and like san diego, it doesn\'t get to cold very often. But for the times it does, some sort of heat should be provided.
