I saw this turtle in a creek in the San Francisco Bay Area, basking in a warm sunny day in Dec, 2009. I haven't seen it since. It looks like some kind of side-necked turtle? Can anyone ID it for me?
Many thanks
Bill

Got a picture ?
California has a few turtles and what a long neck to some may not be as long to another.
Could be just a common western pond turtle , they have a little longer necks than sliders.
Without a photo could be a pet turtle released .
California has some hard laws on turtles hope it was not an invasive species.

You know they say “no pics or didn’t happen” lol

I like the fact that you still remember turtle spotted in 2009 and are still thinking about the turtle enough to post it here after more than a decade!
