I too love the new upgrade to the board, it is alot easier to find what you are looking for, and I also love the turtle smilies.

I am new and would like to say hi! My name is Crysta. I am so upset at what I saw when I walked into a computer business in my home town. In the lobby of this business was a grown red-eared slider in a tiny tank where it could hardly move with growth all over it and its eyes swelled shut! I left there in tears at the cruelty of such an owner not caring enough. Which brings me to my suggestion: Why not have a topic on resources for people to call when a turtle is not cared for properly. I called the local animal shelter but they seem to be dragging there feet. I do not know of a humane society anywhere around my town to even call or a breeder close by who could rescue this sick turtle. If anyone knows where else I can call to be sure that this turtle is rescued soon let me know. Thank-you.

welcome to the board
i'm so sorry to hear that, it it really sad how people can ignore their pets and torture them that way. the poor thing must be hoping to die to be relieved
i found some numbers of rescuers who could help, here are they:
For pet related rescues, contact Eddie Boeckman. Eddie is a KHS member who operates Herp Haven, a herp oriented rescue. You can reach him at (502) 533 0708.
Will Bird (502) 479-0619
Phil Peak (502) 933-9807
Jesse Tipton (502) 445-4723
i hope this could help. can u take it home and try to treat it? u don't have to get a tank and all that stuff, a rubbermaid will do + sunlight and food. at least until someone helps
plz keep us posted

Welcome Crysta, glad to have you here, if there is any way to take a picture of the turtle in the lobby, it would probably help with the credibility of your report to the animal shelter, they may be thinking that you are exagerating.
Well, I hope they do something soon, keep us posted.
