How big is your turtle? it should have water as deep as its shell is wide, as for the food, go to this link:

I was assuming that they were aquatic turtles, if they are land turtles (tortoise), then your setup is fine. We can help better if we can see the turtle.:D

please stop being silly and take the information that we give you seriously. if you really have these turtles and are treating them this way, then use your head and take our advice and stop acting like you don\'t care. if you want to kill them and you really don\'t care, then you\'re not right in the head and you should seek some help.

i\'m not trying to be rude in any way, just completely honest. please don\'t argue with me because i will not stoop so low as to have an argument over the computer with someone that i don\'t know.

i\'m simply trying to educate you and keep you from mistreating these animals. it\'s against the law as well. just keep that in mind ..

Sry, I was just kidding about the shovel, but so far all my turtles have been are nusences! I don\'t have the money for a bigger tank of anything like that and the tank is always dirty so I don\'t think I want a bigger tank because then I never would be able to clean it out!

I feel sorry for your turtles, they are just a death waiting to happen, just set them free, it is probably better than their situation now.

provide a good home for them until spring and then set them free..it\'s very bad harming animals if u don\'t know yet

My friend cought them and gave them to me. I can\'t just set them free! He wants me to keep them. I\'m going to try to take better care of them, I talked with my mom and we\'re are going to stores today and I\'m (for sure) getting a bigger tank (but not a real tank, just a rubermaid one, right?)! Can you guys tell me how to take care of them?!? I\'m beginning to think they are neat, i put them in my bathtub with cold water and they swam around and (I think) they liked it!

the rubbermaid was a alternative if u don\'t have enought money to buy a big tank(fishtank can be really expensive)and like u said before ur turtles seem big...remember the rule;10 gallons for every inch of shell(in lenght)and u have to had the lenght of all the turtle u goiing to put in the same enclosure... but i never read anywhere what kind of turtle u have?!?
to be more helpful we will need more info on the kind of ur turtles(if u don\'t know,describe them or even better post a pic)
and it would be easier if u ask more specific question about what u want to know...a good reading in the newbie section and in the care sheet on this site would probably answer a bunch of question u already have...but u always welcome to ask any question...
another thing, u said ur friend gave them to u and want u to take care of them,but take a 15 minutes to really thing about it;
do you really want to commit yourself to those turtles?it\'s not just like\"ok i take care of them and change ur mind in a week\"some turtles can live 40 to 60 years old..so it\'s really a big thinking..if u not ready for that big commitment,it\'s ok,just make sure u gonna find them a good home..but something is for sure if u decide to keep them,u have to change they enclosure cause the 10 gallon is killing them slowly...

Yeah, don\'t keep them just because someone gave them to you, no matter how good a friend he/she is, nobody likes to be put away like a toy and never bothered with, any living thing deserves some respect, alot of people get upset because their plants die so why would turtles have less importance than vegetation?

As in the words of Gandalf the Grey,\" Hobbits (or Turtles), you can learn all their ways in a few months, but in a hundred years they can still surprise you.\" :)
