My RES does not have a dry space he can go to. Does he have to have a dry place?( I just got my turtle and I dont know)if he does have to have a dry space how can I make one because I only have a 10gallon tank?

it should have a completely dry place to bask..simply get a block and place it there..nothing cheaper:)

If you have any appropriately sized, empty clay flower pots around the house, you could turn one of those upside down, too. Just make sure that the water level is right so your turtle can get on top of it easily, yet still have a dry place to hang out.

Pet shops have these lil docks with ramps that stick to the side of the tank if they\'re not that big i think you can use if for the time being, because ive heard they can get shel rot or something like that for being in the water to long

what is shell rot? I have one of these floating docks. I am new to turtles. My RES seems to love the dock, but I dont want to have something harmfull in the long run.

is that floating dock completely dry? it should be cz ur RES needs to bask or it\'ll have shell rot and treatment takes a long period of time..to avoid it then just let it have a completely dry area..

I have one of those large \"turtle docks\" but my turtles outgrew it- got too big and heavy Now they pull the suction cups right off the walls. I think I have to try the flower pot thing...

turtles like to mess around sometimes and make some trouble..maybe they don\'t mean it and are just re-decorating their home:) but they must have a dry area to bask on
