So is mine, I bought it thinking I had a bigger tank so it kinda sits a little off (slanted) but it will be good for when I upgrade to a bigger tank:D

Yesterday I changed the water in the tank with some rain water, I put everybody back in the tank turned on the heater, bubbles, and basking lamp and went to watch t.v. I went back about a half hour later to check on them and the water was close to 90 deg. , I quickly turned off the water heater and went back outside for some cold rainwater that I have in a big tub outside, (recent, because of the rainfall) and since it was cold water (about 40 deg.) I mixed the water until I got a reading of about 78 deg., imagine if I had just gone to sleep instead of checking:( thank god I went back to check ImageImageImage

it was a sense, you had to go and check, you knew your turts were in trouble, you just didn\'t realize it.

You should let the heater sit unplugged for about 15 minutes in the water before plugging it in. This allows it to adjust to the temp--less chance of cracking or breaking glass. Some brands are more accurate than others when it comes to temp. Using a heater guard will lower the temp by a degree or two. Checking the temp with a thermometer is good.

I have a submerged thermometer to check the temp. regularly and when the water had gotten too hot, I added cold water slowly to bring it back to about 78 deg. after that I checked it again and adjusted the thermostat on the heater so it would be just right, I still check it every day, kinda a habbit now.:D

I have about eight of them. its not scary, it just happens. let\'s say you\'re on the forun, and you suddenly think\"I should check on my turtle\" you go in there and you find that your turtle is drowning!! that\'s a sense to me and if you truly care about your turtle, that sense will become stronger.

eight?? yeah that is scary bcz something bad might have happened..but the scary thing i\'m talking about is like what happened with me 3 days ago..i was getting out of college and saw a friend of mine walking..she was almost running so she looked at me quickly and smiled..2 seconds later i saw that same girl wearing the same clothes (although i haven\'t seen her before that day) coming my way..she did exactly the same thing, smiled and walked away quickly..i didn\'t move for a minute thinking what has just happened..i saw the future!! i know it sounds stupid but that was scary

Ofcourse, I was thinking of building my own aquarium out of plexiglass, the thick one, I think they sell the plexiglass in 4\' x 4\' measurements. When I do I\'ll make sure I take pictures.:D
