i always feed my turtles in one corner of the tank, but they always forget where to find the food. So i put my finger up to the glass and they franticly swin for my finger. Then they follow my finger to the food. Its weird. They follow my finger when I put it up to the glass.

My turtle does the same things, I guess they're associating you with food. They know you know so they let you lead them to it.

whenever i walk by the tank even if robin was just fed he starts swimming frantically back and forth along the glass. when he does that i either feed him (if i havent fed him yet) or put my hand up against the glass. for some reason, this seems to calm him... do any of your turtles do that? he kinda looks at my finger tips and swims slowly from one finger to another, inspecting them as if he were on one of those commercials: shop and compare before you buy! -------
mine does that to. see glass is clear so i guess the turtles think that there is no glass and that they cen swim right out into our world. but when you put your hand there it is something wisible that he/she knows is solid!
