i will take a pic. its in a fifteen gallon tank with my baby turtle:

Image

in it i put a pie crust pan (with the pie crust out, obviously) and filled it with sand. the turtle stays in the sand almost all day. i did the pie pan because i didnt want sand all over the bottom cuz it will clog up the filters. i have one of those floating rock things with the suction cups, a UV light (the blue one) a really bright basking light, 3 filters, and i guess thats it. nothing fancy as of right now

How do these turtles interact. I seem to think the snapper would be, aggresive. Also, is a snapper an ideal turtle to have a pet, as well as keeping it with a soft shell. I would be worried I would wake up one more with a full snapper, and missing my softie. Just wondering, awesome turtle tho. Softshells are so awesome looking, really amazing turtles!

no, my snapper gets along with the softie very well. actually, sometimes at night, like at 12:00, you can see them both sleeping on the basking rock. i once saw the softshell with her arm around the snapper sleeping, and once she was using the snappers shell as like a pillow. no they never fought once, they are almost always by each other.

and no, my snapper is not agressive at all... he is the nicest turtle i ever had. he never even opened his mouth at me! but he knows i care for him and stuff.... but the softie is mean she tries to bite me.

Hi, im was refering to once the snapper is full grown, Thats a HUGE tank to hold him in and once he is full grown he might see the softie as some dinner, But, just me being a paranoid freak \\m/\\m/

well..... im not sure about that. but softies get really huge too. even as big as a common snapping turtle.... so if they grow at the same rate, they would get along. but if you had a full grown snapper with a baby softy, that would be a big problem. snappers in the wild sometimes eat smaller turtles than they are...

I like softshell turtles myself, but I do have one question, are leather backs the same turtle or are they a totally different turtle?, by the way stuntpogoer, you didn\'t say if you liked the sites:D

Hi Stunt :D

I just have a few suggestions...
You know that both your Snapper and Softie, in just a year, will need 100 gallons of tank space, EACH. These guys grow fats and when they get older, if they aren\'t already, they get HUGE and MEAN. If you put your fingers in the snappers tank pretty soon, no matter how tame you think he is, will bite you down to the bone. The Softie will get very mean as well.
I had a friend who kept, like you, a common snapper and a Softie in the same tank. He thought it would be cool to see how these too very differant and very mean species interact with eachother. Well, when the snapper was just almost 4 inches, it started going after the softie. And since the softie doesn\'t have much protection from the jaws of the snapper, it bled to death.
Now, I\'m not saying this is whats going to happen to your wild pair, but I\'m saying it\'s EXTREMELY possible, simply based on the aggression that each of these to species has. For right now, what I would do if I were you is get two seperate tanks, they can be small for right now. and put each of the turtles in their differant tanks. That way you can keep both of them, without them killing eachother.
And please do start to save up your money for two 100 gallon tanks. Let us know what you decide to do! I can\'t wait to see more pictures of your new 15-20 gallon tank that you\'ll buy for one of your turtles!!!!! ;)Thanks!
