On average, up here in Canada, most turtles sell for approximatly $50 Canadian. Seems a lot different than the days of cheap turtles. wow. We dont get variety up here though. It is all RES, nothing different or exotic!

Depends on what you get. Sliders are about $15-$20. Land turtles are in the $60-$100 range. I don\'t see many others available in the pet stores. I am in the Northeast Ohio area.

I never really checked on any other turtles, but mine cost me $5.00 US each, plus about $3 for setup and food (reptomin).

Yeah but I did get some cheap stuff and I still had to find a heat lamp. The filter is probably the cheapest. It\'s a fluval underwater filter. It is for a 70 gallon tank, but I still have to clean the tank at least once a week. I am looking into a new filter now.

You can buy a RES for educational purposes for $19 or at another place you can get a 20 gallon set up and 2 \"free\" RES for something like $120-$190. I don\'t remember the exact amount.

you payed like $80 for A RED EARED SLIDER????????!!!!!!!!!! are you psycho??!!!!! omg! thats not right... you got ripped off big time! they are usually like $20 and that is still a ripoff.... RES\'s should be at the most $5 since they are so easy to find.... how did u guys get that cheap of a setup? ive paid like $100 for my setup, i didnt pay anything for the turtles cuz i caught them. yes, i catch turtles in michigan on a paddle boat. its fun. i catch about 20 turtles in about a week. with a giant net. turtles are fast! you really gotta be swift with the net when you catch them. but my aquarium is in the garage, so i had to buy a heater and stuff..

I\'m from Australia, and while it is illegal to keep turtles (unless permit owned but still that only applies to some states) in all states other than South Australia we only have two types that you can buy, Long Knecked Turtle and the Murray River (short necked). These cost $50.00 australian and up. While you can buy a baby alligator for aprox 200.00 (Aust) - but I only know of one shop that sells alligators. The set up is really expensive...

My aquarium was a garage sale find, it cost me $5** (I think) it had only the hood and a few color rocks, I had to get the heater, water filter, bubble maker (not really necessary, unless you have fish), and the rest is just window dressing, as they say.

Most of your cost in the end will be for looks, or upgrades.

Do you mean kinda like alkaseltzer(sorry if I misspelled)?, I think I have seen those, the bubble maker I have is an electrical machine that you run hoses into the tank to a bubble stone (blue) that makes the bubbles.

i don`t put any filters of pumps into my tank cuz its small...anyways i am thinking of doing so just that i don`t know how much it costs...my tank is like 20cm long 18 cm high.....with drift wood and uh u know the rest i`ve posted it in a different topic....anyways the turtles are in my room so there aren`t much spaces...wanted to take a glass tank from my granny but thinking about it i found taht it would be hard to clean and since its glass it might break if i carry it and and end up dropping it....now i`m just wondering what i should do to avoid cleaning the turtles tank almost everyday...since i am working and i`m only free at night....get tired some times but i clean their tank any way cuz i really care about JADE,DIAMOND and CLIFF HANGER...so give some tips ok everyone...love u all turtle lovers...

i have to clean my tank everyday too since i have no filters..there isn\'t really a way u can keep it clean..u can\'t stop them from releasing their stuff lol..what i noticed is that it depends on the food they eay in 2 ways:
1- if the food is messy the water will need cleaning for sure (that\'s obvious for chicken and meat stuff)
2- depending on the type of the food comes out their poop,,if it\'s dry food then it will just be small and solid and sink to the bottom,,not that bad to keep it for next day..if the food was rich with fats and other things (again like chicken, tuna fish,...) they will get rid of it in great amounts and it becomes like diarhea sometimes and floats <ugh> which needs cleaning for sure except if ur disgusting enough to stand it:p

these were results of my observations to my babies,,i don\'t know if they are all the same

I will try the white vinigar too. At first I didn\'t understand that you use it for cleaning and not as an additive to the water. Is that all you use to clean?

I took the rocks out so now the water doesn\'t smell bad so soon after I clean it and now cleaning the tank only takes me about 20 min instead of 1hr to clean the rocks. And I don\'t have to stress out all day and night worrying if he is going to eat a rock.

i got it stray u mean the vitamin c tablets for cold? well hmmm no not exactly bcz it doesn\'t dissolve in waterand it is hollow from the middle,,more like a ring
