my turtle escaped his container while I was cleaning his tank. He was in the floor in my kitchen. He wasn\'t left very long, but we can\'t find him anywhere. We\'ve searched the floors on hands and knees with flashlights. he\'s been missing over 24 hours. Has anybody had this happen and where did you find your turtle or how can I get him to come out? How long can he survive? Thanks.
Look absolutely everywhere--even places you don\'t think he could possibly be. Put out some shallow pans of water on the floor and also some smelly food (sardines packed in water, for example). I\'d also leave a light on near the water and food at night. He may be attracted to the food and water and come out.
My RES Squirtle likes to hid in dark places when he\'s let out. I once lost him for four hours and found him under the China cabinet fast asleep. I\'d say check ALL the dark and SMALL hiding places. Also try looking in clothing piles on the floor, pillows or maybe the rug. My Squirtle likes to sleep in places like that.
