About two weeks ago I noticed what looked like a wart on the neck/ear of my about 4year old male spiny softshell turtle. The sore seems to have opened up. I’m looking for some help/advise about this. I don’t know what it is or how to treat. I just don’t want my turtle to suffer. So far the turtle doesn’t seemed bothered by it. Any help is appreciated thanks. I also have a female softshell turtle in the same tank not sure if that sore can spread to her.
Hi sorry about your turtle sore. I'm new to forum but 60 years with turtles. Sounds like an aural abscess and since it opened I would see a herp vet. The Herp vet will need to drain the infected area and remove all infected matter. There are no OTC drugs that will help. Needs a RX (true antibiotic) because this is caused by a bacterial infection and yes separate the other turtle it can spread to it too. This is painful for a turtle get your friend some herp vet help.
