I have 1 male RES turtle. His shell is a little over 1.5 inches long. I have him in a 20 gallon tank with a basking area and all the equipment I need. Pete,(that\'s my turtle\'s name), hasn\'t gotten any bigger since I got him.
How big will Pete have to be before his tank is too small? ???
PS: The tank measures 10.5 by 20 inches.

How long have you had him? The rule of thumb is to allow 10 gallons of tank per inch of shell length. The 20-gallon is OK for now (round up 1.5 inches to 2 inches). If you can\'t afford a tank when he gets bigger, consider getting something like a Rubbermaid storage container or look in the classified for a used tank.
