Re: Chlorine

boiling water gets rid of chlorine, but you have to let it cool after boiling it. you also have to boil enough to fill your tank.
it might save money form the gas bill to buy a $2.00 bottle of dechlor, whitch also removes chloramine

Re: Chlorine

ya, letting it sit for 24 hours works, but i just ust a chemical called dechlor, all you do is add 1 drop per gallon of water, and chlorine is instintantly gone! if you add it all at once, i\'d let your tank cycle a little, just to be safe. having chlorine in your water can make your turtles eyes sc...

Re: artificial plants......?

i think artifical plants look great in an aquarium, dont get ones w/wires. i like the ones that have a plastic stem and fabric leaves. my turtles have a tendency to pull up the plants , but you could just pile extra rocks on there and it should last longer b4 re-planting

Re: assorted questions

this is about you being gone for two days:

i would feed them just before you leave (not too much) and buy a bunch of feeder fish for them to munch on when you are gone.
(like goldfish, guppies or minnows)

Re: how do you tell whether a turtles a girl or a boy

boy turtles have longer \"claws\" on their front feet and girls have shorter

boy turtles tails are also longer, making it possible to stick out of the shell, the girls can hardley stich out
