Help with large turtle

I have a diamond back terrapin. He is about the size of a cantalope. Right now he is in a 29 gallon tank, but has no basking spot. The problem with the basking spot is he is to heavy for all the ledges they sell in pet stores. The suction cups just pop right off. I tried a tupperware container hangi...

burping

Does anyone\'s turtle burp? Mine will be swimming along and let out what looks like a belch. Is this normal or a sign of something else?

Re: need basking help

I\'ve been getting him out everyday and putting him in a box to bask for an hour. But I know he would like to be able to get out whenever he wants.

Re: need basking help

Aren\'t you afraid of him knocking it over. My turtle is very active. I don\'t know if something like that would work for him. He\'s about as big around (shell wise) as a grapefruit...maybe a little bit bigger.

crab meat

I give my turtle crab meat from crab legs. Is this ok? He loves to eat it, but I want to make sure it isn\'t going to make him sick. I only give it to him once a week as a treat. Thanks.

ghost shrimp

I bought Mr. T some ghost shrimp today and tonight cannot find them in his tank. I\'m guessing he ate them. My question is are they safe? Also, how often can I feed them to him? Thanks.

Re: Turtle\'s mood has changed

His water is kept at 82. He gets out and basks and everything. I think he is fine, but just down because he is tired of his tank. I didn\'t let him walk on the carpet, it is hard wood floors. He just likes to get into the corners where I can\'t get him and where he can get all dirty. I don\'t know w...

Turtle\'s mood has changed

My turtle used to act so happy in his tank, but lately he has kinda been acting depressed. I think it is because I can\'t take him outside for walks since it is too cold. I tried letting him walk around my room, but he gets so much hair and stuff wrapped around him. Does anyone have any suggestions ...

Re: underside of turtle...help

He is really healthy and active. It looks like it is just peeling again, but like I said when it did it before it didn\'t look (or I didn\'t notice) it being red. His shell is perfect and he isn\'t bleeding or anything. I\'m taking him to the vet next week because he ate some rocks, so I can get it ...

underside of turtle...help

My turtle will be a year old in Feb. The underside of his shell where the splits are (like down the middle) is kinda red and looks like it is peeling. Should I be worried about the redness, or is he just shedding his skin again?

Thanks

turtle has eaten rocks...help

I just saw my turtle poop out two rocks. I have taken the rocks out of the tank, but now how do I get him to use the bathroom more so he can get them all out of his stomach?

Thanks

What should the underside look like?

What should the underside of the turtle look and feel like? It doesn\'t get any light, so should it be hard or soft. I have a diamondback terripin. Thanks for your help.

cuttle bone

I\'ve heard people mention on here that they have a cuttle bone in their turtles tank to help out with the calcium thing. My turtle is a water turtle, so how do I put the thing in? Do I just lay it in the bottom and let it disolve, or hang it on the side? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Can I put in fish with my turtle?

I have a diamondback, and I was thinking about getting him a fish to keep him company. Is this a good or bad idea. I know he will probably kill it, but I thought he would have fun chasing it around. Is there any certain kind that is better to put in with him than others?

Thanks, Boom

turtle always hungry

My turtle acts like it is hungry constantly. I feed it about 10 times a day, but I know I\'m over doing it. He still acts hungry though after all that. Any tips on how many times I should feed him and what I should do. Usually when I feed him I drop two or three pellets and a pinch of shrimp. Thanks.

question about aquarium heaters

today, i bought a whisper heater (submersible) for 5-10 gallon tank (i have a ten). i was just wondering if these were dangerous for my turtle, or if anyone could tell me that they found theirs ok. i\'m kinda afraid to go to bed with it in there with him.
