Last summer i was fishing in a little pond with my friend and we saw a terrapin/turtle in the pond, floating , basking in the sun and i was wondering if it would have survived the winter, as i live in England!

What do you think???

It maybe turning itself over becos the water isn\'t deep enough, you must makeb the water atleast its shell length or it will turn over and drown.

Also do you have a dry area, this is needed

I think its because your basking area might not be warm enough so the RES is digging under to get warmer.

Hi,
I hav made a basking area for small turtles,
Get a sheet of polystyrene and cut 2 circles on smaller than the other, glue them together and paint on PVA glue all over for a varnish and tie on a suction pad.

I have made a type of floating island out of 2 layers of polystyrene and i was just wondering if it would be ok to paint it and then varnish or would i have to get special paint?

Thanks Guys,
I have a few rocks in the garden and a really thin long slate piece that i was thinking of using as a slope. But i was thinking that if i put plexyglass in then the turtle would have more of swimming space. Can yo get plexy glass or sumthin like that from a DIY store??

My tank is aboud 2 foot long but only 8 inches wide and i can seem to fit bricks into it without cutting them, so could someone suggest a platform of some type i could make.... please help
