Ok there really is no best heater just get a submersable heater and test them for yourself. But as for the light there is a good one made by zoo med it will run you about 20.00 but they are guaranteed for 1 year and put out 40x the uvb of any bulb.

Mud turtles are very tempermental.
Land turtles are much easier to take care of but you have to pay much more attention to temperture and diet.

They usually say that you only want the water as high as the width of the shell but i have learned that this is not true w/ mud turtle just make sure he looks comfortable they love high water. if you have any more questions just E MAIL me i will respond quickly.

you\'ll run into this alot with turtles but the truth is they will only swim when they want to on a side note you should only put as much water in the tank as the shell is wide as if they were on thiere side see how that helps but most of all don\'t worry to much. Joe Allen

Your turtle is prolapsing this can happen every once in awhile and if you keep this clean this will not hurt the turtle. This will actually go away. This is ok if your still worried then just call your local herp vet.

I have turtles who tend to stay out of the water for a few days sometimes so your turtle should be ok if you want to take him out for a few hours and play with him.

You may also want to try feeding your turtle some fruit i often feed my turtles peaches out of the can make sure this is all naturale. this helps them because it is brighter then alot of food you can feed them. Some times the cords on the heat lamps can start to get a little hot and start to burn a little bit check this and also try checking the bulb and see if the contacts on the socket are cleared off.

Don\'t worry your turtle is only shedding and it is normal for some turtles not to eat for nearly a month this time of year it is perfectly normal and he should be ok.

No matter what you put in the tank your turtle will eat the fish the newts anything that swims it dosent matter. Trust me i have experience with this. Yes u can tilt the heater sideways and yes you can fully submerse the heater it should not hurt it. I do this with mine.
