Re: hates the banana, straberry,melon,apple,romainelettuce,c

I assume you have a common pond turtle (slider, cooter, painted, map, etc.). There are two ways to do this. Starve them and feed them nothing except leafys greens or aquatic plants. Don\'t worry, they won\'t die from starvation. They can go a couple of weeks without food easily. The other option is ...

Re: turtles not eating

It takes hatchlings a while to figure out what is good to eat. Try some live prey, insects, worms, or dried shrimp/fish. These thinsg usually get them going. Once hey have started feeding, go with small turtle pellets or small fish pellets. Turtle pellets may take some time for them to accept, but i...

Re: Do we have a X-breed?

The lumpy shell is called pyramiding and it is caused by overfeeding and/or too much protein. It happens a lot in pet turtles and that is why you should not feed them everyday. A turtle with pyramiding is not as pleasing to the, but generally healthy. It may have a shortened life and renal failure c...

What is the temp of the tank? Are there any othet abnormal signs with the smaller turtle, AJ?

How old are your turtles? Usually turtles need to be 2 years or more to be sexed. Males will have longer and thicker tails than females. The females in most water species are bigger in overall size. The males of some water turtles will have longer front claws. But the tail and difference in size are...

The pet store guy is wrong. If your turtle needs water to eat (swallow), then it\'s a water turtle. The red ears, often indicate it\'s a Red Ear Slider. What kind and how many of turtles do you have? How big are they (length)? How much money do you have to play with? I think it\'s always good to get the biggest tank you can afford, b/c you will need it in the future. A tank won\'t go bad or break easily like filters and other equipment. Cheers, JJ :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don\'t think you have a proper set-up. Your \"pond,\" does it have a palm tree and a shape of a kidney? How old is your painted turtle? For many turtles, the females are bigger in size than the males. The males have a thicker and longer tail and longer claws when they get older. Often the first sign of sex is the difference in size and the thickness of tails.
