Re: BIG Baby RES

You diffently don\'t deprive your turtles. Turtles have a tendency to lie. They act like they are starving but really aren\'t. I also have a baby and a juvenille RES. I feed the baby a little more but still only feed them both once a day. His growth seems normal as of right now. He always gets excit...

Re: How long can turtles go without food?

When I leave for a long time I leave my turtles guppies. I have a baby RES and the guppies are not to big to eat. I have their light on a timer and change the filters before I go. I also have someone come in about every three days or so (that way it is not a lot to ask someone to watch your turtles)...

Re: My 2 year old Sliders

If you feed your turtles on a regular basis, they usually wont go after the fish. When I am leaving for a weekend I buy feeder guppies and my turtles munch them up for the couple of days that I am gone. When I get back and feed them every day again they are not as intersted in the guppies. You can a...

A 100 gallon tank is perfect. And yes fill it up! The babies will be fine. Just make sure that the Mom and the babies both have a place to get out and bask! A turtle has to be able to turn there self over if they are upside down, if they dont they can die, so the more water the better. Dont worry th...

I have recently took out the divider in my tank that seperated my baby from my larger RES. They are getting along great. The only thing I am worried about is that Marty (the older one) has began to do his mating dance on my baby. I know he cant harm him with his dance but my question is will he try ...

I am happy you are doing your research before you adopt these turtles. You said you were thinking about taking a Mom and her babies. Depending on how many babies, you will need a fairly large tank! You will also need a filter, UVB light, basking area, and basking light, and a heater. All of these st...

When I first brought home a baby turtle my older RES was a bully to him. I purchased a tank divider so Marty (my older RES) wouldnt hurt Phil (my baby). Your turtle needs a bigger tank. How big is your turtle? I suggest no less then a 10 gallon even though thats small as well. You will also need a basking area and the proper lighting. This includes a basking light and UVB light. Turtles are dirty so they also need a good filter to keep their tank cl...

Your turtes are sheding there skin. They grow realy fast at that early stage and shed alot, my 2 RES\'s shed alot. Also, it is ok to rinse them under tap water, there isnt enough chlorine in it to harm them.

They might have gone into hibernation. They slow down a lot and stop eating as much. How warm is your water? It needs to be around 75-80 degrees unless you want them to hibernate. That could be the problem. Good Luck!
