It is common that females with do the mating dance with other females and males will do it to other males. This happens esspecially when you have multiple turtles of just the same sex in a tank.

Rubbermaids are deffinatly only a temporary home for turtles. Try to get the biggest sized rubbermaid you can find. (40+ gallons). You'll have to take a rope or belt and wrap it around the width of the rubbermaid in the center. Try the rope so that the rubbermaid's sides don't start to 'push out' wh...

Dixiee, your first post was more accurate and more managable. The 125 gallon for a female would be great, although a 180 gallon would be better since it is 6 inches wider than the 125. But Aquariums are expensive and I think you could get by with just the 125.

I'm sure you could find it in any bigger pet store in the UK. I really don't like the floating docks because the suctions always fall off and the dock itself is very unstable. In one of my tanks I have bricks stacked up on one end to make land.

Much better choice than a softy. You'll still need to have 2 seperate tanks though, you know that?
I really hope you take the advice of the expirienced members on this board and not put the turtles in the same tank.
Where are you getting your map from?

Great Idea, Joe. I've seen people build a 'tower' in the water. I'm not very crafty but I think you can use pvc piping to support a platform on its four corners. This way the pipes are just on the sides of the tank and the turtles can swim safety under the platform. You could have taller fake plants...

Yes, if you want your young softshell to be a rather expensive meal for your RES, put them in the same tank. If not get a seperate tank and think about getting another species of turtle instead of the softy. They get big and nasty, much like a snapper. They also need special care requirements differ...

Yes, it is true, you need a 120 gallon for your RES.
