We use a filter. I was told by several people from th begining to make sure the water is filterd, or treated. We also put in dechlorinator just to be safe.

I think it is a Nematode. I\'ve seen other pictures of them and thats pretty much what they look like. If not possibly a round worm, which I think is etiher similar, or a type of nematode. Whatever it is you need to do something about it right away. You need to have a vet diagnose this so that you c...

When in the water our turtles nibble on our fingers as well, mistaking them for food. Not feeling threatened by us at all. Its kinda cute. Be careful when they\'re out of the tank, though. Our turtles try to take fingers off. I know it would hurt if they caught a finger because when they bite down i...

Warmer water is definetly the key. What is the temp of your water? If you don\'t keep the water warm enough he won\'t eat because his body is getting ready for hibernation. But if it isn\'t cold enough he won\'t hibernate. Keeping him in between is dangerous for him. If this has been going on for a ...

If this continues though it might possibly be what turtlecrazed is talking about. Their feces is the brown stuff that they excrete out of their vent. You\'ll know it when you see it. I would take a sample of that asap to a reptile vet just to be certain. It probably would be the best thing to consul...

I\'m not sure you\'ll want to move him into a warm climate right now. It might shock him, possibly kill him. You can bring him in and keep him in a cold climate, simulating his outside hibernation. Some people recommend keeping a hibernating turtle in a refrigerator (of course with correct temp) but...

Are you sure that it is swollen? How much have you been feeding her. If you are overfeeding she can become fat and bloated, which would make it hard for her to retract into her shell. Think about how much you are feeding. Is she acting strangly, or is there anything else you notice different about h...

Re: unsure but looks like an egg

I agree with turtlecrazed. Turtles do get worms, and a big sign of that is in their feces. Reptile vets can do a fecal test to kind if their are any parasites. If it were eggs, your turtles would be laying several more. They lay eggs in clutches, so she would be laying them on about 3-4 different oc...
